Playstation VR Headset

Virtual Reality, or VR is taking the world by storm as more and more industries bring out equipment that is compatible with this new trend, such as the Google Daydream, Oculus Go and, of course, PlayStation VR. Sony have always been at the forefront when it comes to tech, and when The Sale Network tried out the headset we were not disappointed. Here at TSN, we’re used to finding gaming deals at an unbeatable price, which was good news when nearly every team member wanted to get their hands on one.

What is PlayStation VR?

Immerse yourself in your favourite game with VR. Normally reserved for the luxury market, virtual reality technology is now becoming accessible to the working masses with affordable headsets. With a 360 view on a 5.7” OLED screen as well as 3D audio, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped through your television and straight into your game. By putting gaming at the forefront of the design, Sony seem to have created a VR gadget that ticks every box.

The design of the PlayStation VR is difficult to fault. This sleek bit of technology looks like it came straight out of Back to the Future with retro inspired vibes, but still remains contemporary. The blue tracking lights are a nice added touch, too. Whilst it is a large headset, it can be expected for such an innovative gadget. The only issue we had was a small band of light being let in, but with comfortability and ease of use factored in, it seems hardly significant.

Set Up

Setting up the PlayStation VR requires a lot of cables, and we mean a lot of them. There are many different sources that need plugging in and it requires a dedicated power supply. However, the instructions are very clear, and we had no trouble in setting it up, and once powered on it really is ready to just go with no messing about. A small price to pay for such an immersive experience!

The most important part was, of course, the performance. It can be expected that with virtual reality headsets only just hitting the consumer market, there are some bugs that need to be ironed out. The camera for the most part was of great quality, but there were some noticeable lags and lower screen quality in a few areas. However, for the majority of the time, the graphics were excellent with incredible detail and vivid colours. We can’t wait to see what Sony bring out next!

Overall Verdict

The consensus at The Sale Network HQ was that we all wanted a piece of the action when it came to VR. Naturally we couldn’t play every game using the headset, but it made for an enjoyable few hours and, despite its bulky set up, didn’t seem to get in the way. What do you think about the PlayStation VR? We give it a whopping four out of five stars!
